What is a brogue shoe?

A brogue shoe is a type of dress shoe, a brogue - or wingtip shoe - is characterized by perforations (or broguing) on the toe cap and/or around the calf edges. Brogue shoes constructed on a "Goodyear welt" (a circular piece of leather placed inside the shoe in order to allow it to be stitched and to create a watertight seal), with perforations or embroidered patterns on the surface (usually in the form of crosses). Some say that any style of shoe that has both holes in it, stitch pattern, and is made on a Goodyear welt is technically a brogues.

Type of the brogue shoe?

There are different types of brogues, semi brogues and full brogues. The purpose of this guide is to help you get classic (and comfortable) brogues across the line so you can wear these shoes with anything.

The quarter-brogue: simple brogues:

The quarter-brogue is a simple single-eyelet shoe with a lacing system(unlike semi-brogues, quarter brogues have no decorative perforations in the center of the toe cap) on  and a slimmer tongue. The design of the quarter-brogue is accentuated by its natural, unfinished leather. The quarter-brogue is undoubtedly the most elegant men's shoe

The semi-brogue: stylish brogues:

Semi-brogues are a best seller, and for good reason. Semi-Brogue shoes(Decorative perforations are located on the cap's edge, along with additional perforations on the heel and oftentimes) are sleek and modern, yet it can also add a touch of traditional formality to your look. Crafted in soft leather, our semi-brogue has a simple no-nonsense design with the durability and comfort you expect from a Barker shoe. It will help you stand out in a crowd - and it will last you from season to season thanks to our world-renowned Goodyear welt construction
